FLXIBLE Sidecar HANDLING

HANDLING INFO
FLXI sidecar can be taken around a curve either to the right or the left, much faster than a RIGID sidecar. This is due to the tilting and turning of the sidecar wheel and the leaning of the motorcycle. This action not only eases the strains on the whole motorcycle frame but reduces the grinding on the tread of the tires, resulting in very appreciable increases in MILAGE. Do to the fact that shocks are not transmitted directly between the sidecar wheel and motorcycle frame. RIDING COMFORT is increased immensely.
DISTANCE IN TRAVEL FROM SIDE TO SIDE
Won't the outfit fall over against the sidecar and pitch the riders leg or fall over on the ground ?
Answer: NO...The tilt of the motorcycle is limited by adjusting screws and can be so set that the motorccle can tilt the NECESSARY AMOUNT and NO FARTHER. To derive the full benefit, the rider should learn to drive with free FLXI action all the time, not using the brace bar except to hold motorcycle up(as a matter of appearance) when it is to be left standing for a considerable amount of time, as in storage, over night, etc
HOW IT WORKS
The sidecar "FLOATS" as a independent unit, the large coil spring in the rear chassis tube absorbing road shocks and vibrations received by the sidecar wheel and protecting the motorcycle from cross strain. A rod passes through rear chassis tube actutes rocker on which sidecar wheel is mounted at a carefully determined angle which permits the tilting action and at the same time causes sidecar wheel to turn slightly in the direction toward which the rider is steering as to eliminate all side pull or drag.
ADJUSTING
The wheel of the sidecar should lean out at the top slightly, as should also the motorcycle, as this produces most PERFECT BALANCE. If this result does not appear when the sidecar is attached, adjust by legthening or shortening the tilting rod with in the rear chassis tube by turning the clevises at the end of the rod. This outward lean should be very slight, of course, from one to two degrees from vertical. After the flxible is attached to your motorcycle it should be adjusted by the set screws in the rocker supports so that at farthest point to which it leans to the right. About an inch of space will remain between the driver's leg and the sidecar body. Slightly more tilt than this should be allowed to the left. Always use as much tilt as possible in both directions.
